OMT to increase focus on LNG solutions
New environmental regulations and continuous focus on vessels’ energy efficiency and air emissions is high on all ship owners’ agenda. LNG is one of the means for cleaner ships and LNG as a fuel is slowly developing.
To boost OMT’s consultancy services and development of new ship designs related to the tanker segment, Mr. Klaus Rasmussen is by 1st of April employed as Business Development Director in OMT. In this position, Klaus will head and develop OMT’s relations with ship owners in the tanker segment, especially in relation to LNG and LPG solutions.
OMT was founded in 2010 as a spin-off from Odense Steel Shipyard. OMT builds on 90 years of excellence in ship design and has design experience from a multitude of different vessels, including 70 containerships and 150 bulk carriers designed for and constructed at shipyards around the world. OMT comprises 150 experienced maritime professionals in ship design, engineering and project execution, with offices in Denmark, China, India and Canada.
A special focus for Klaus will be development of bunker vessels, where a new LNG bunker barge vessel already has been designed by OMT. The new LNG bunker vessel is designed for effective LNG Ship-To-Ship bunkering. The new ship design is a further development of OMT’s range of multi gas carriers, where 15 vessels already are operating in worldwide gas markets.
Klaus has during the last years as an independent consultant at MOVINGENERGY been very active in the LNG bunker world by developing new supply chains and business plans concerning liquefaction as well as LNG bunker supply chains.
Klaus has hands-on experience from the tanker segment as he 24 years back was educated in Lauritzen Kosan Tankers as a Marine Engineer and sailed as an Engineer on their LPG vessels before he joined Stolt- Nielsen’s fleet of chemical vessels. During the last 20 years Klaus’ focus has been to develop new international projects and businesses in major industries like Construction, Oil & Gas and Maritime.
